- 1795 Washington Grate Halfpenny. Musante GW-49, Baker-29B, W-10955. Large Buttons. Copper. Reeded Edge. MS-64 BN (PCGS). OGH. Warmly patinated in autumn-brown, this is a satiny and generally well struck example with most design elements boldly to sharply rendered. Obverse border tight to the letters in WASHINGTON, reverse border through the tops of the letters in the words BY CLARK & HARRIS, although this is a minor feature to be sure. A fleck of verdigris on the reverse at the letter C in CLARK is noted. This is a popular Conder token that has long since been "adopted" by American collectors who specialize in colonial and Washington-related coins. PCGS# 746. NGC ID: 2B7M.
