Another PQ GEM example! While generally considered a "common" or "generic" date in the series, in MS65 the date becomes scarce and it is truly RARE so fine, near the apex of the PCGS Population Report, the present 1926 $10 is tied for second HIGHEST graded for the date, with just seven in MS66+ as currently highest graded. A frosty, satin-like mint brilliance glows on both the obverse and reverse, highlighting the totally original, rich, yellow-gold coloration. Careful inspection with a strong glass reveals a few, tiny, inconspicuous ticks hidden in the sharply struck design elements, mainly on the reverse. Like the previous lot, this MS66 1926 Indian Head eagle is freshly graded from a small original holding that came out of the woodwork in the Midwest earlier this year and it goes to show that there are still many little groups that are yet to be discovered! PCGS 37, NGC 51. The most recent example to sell in auction brought $9,694 in our Regency Auction 55. Prior to that, one sold for $9,600 in April 2022. The current Collectors Universe value is listed at $17,500 and it jumps to $30,000 in MS66+ with NONE GRADED MS67 or finer. An ideal 1926 $10 for any Premium GEM 20th century gold type set or high end set of GEM $10 Indians. Cert. Number 45892794 PCGS # 8882
