- DUPLICATES FROM THE BLACKCAT COLLECTION A modern experimental piece struck by the German firm, Schuler, producer of coinage presses used by many mints around the world. The firm specializes in the manufacture of "complex" coining presses, that allow for the striking of bimetallic coinages, which are frequently seen around the world. This Experimental Model is struck with a brass center inserted in a copper-nickel ring. A capped head faces left on the brass insert, EXPERIMENTAL MODEL on the outer ring. The reverse shows a perched eagle on the insert, R&D PROJECT and Braille elements on the ring. This piece was produced to promote the Schuler technology, approximately 20 examples are thought to have been made. PCGS 2, NGC 0. There is only a single MS65 graded finer. This piece brought $1,200 in November 2020. A rare and important modern "pattern" that would make a fine addition to an advanced collection. Cert. Number 39686516 PCGS # 826487
