- FROM THE BIG CYPRESS COLLECTION O-105, a Rarity-4+ variety. This is a VERY PLEASING Choice VF example of the first year of issue for the denomination. This is a moderately scarce variety for a year that has die marriages that range from R-3 to R-8. This coin displays lovely rainbow toned concentric bands on both sides that suggest long term storage in a Wayte Raymond holder. Moderate wear is seen evenly dispersed over the devices and fields. We note some minor mint made adjustment marks at the right reverse periphery. The eye appeal is very nice especially for a date that is often plagued with issues. PCGS 48, NGC 14. Due to a hoard of about 200 1794 half dollars that came out in the last few years, the prices have come way down. This coin sold for $23,500 in the 2014 FUN auction, but the most recent coins brought $8,100 and $9,000 in 2019 and 2020 and the current PCGS Price Guide value is listed at $12,500.
