- 1817 Matron Head Cent. N-13. Rarity-1. 13 Stars. MS-64+ RB (PCGS). The overall steely-blue surfaces are accented by considerable pinkish luster glowing from around the devices. Incredibly satiny through the fields and lacking notable abrasions. Nicely centered on the obverse and faintly drawn towards 2 o'clock on the reverse. A small area of reddish patina atop Liberty's inner hair bun serves as a convenient pedigree marker, tracing it back to the impressive Jim Neiswinter Collection sold in January 2019. This piece is graded finer than even the Twin Leaf duplicate, graded MS-64 BN (PCGS), that brought $3,290 in our March 2016 sale.
