Despite a mintage of 770,000, the 1910-S $5 is one of the toughest dates to acquire in Gem grades, per noted experts Jeff Garrett and Ron Guth in their Encyclopedia of United States Gold Coins. Even MS62s are very challenging. This VERY CHOICE Mint State coin is a fantastic example of this condition rarity from this very popular series. This example is totally original in an outstanding and rarely seen state of preservation. Rich honey and rose gold surfaces are enlivened by the gorgeous satiny surfaces. The incuse devices are crisp with bold definition. Close inspection with a strong loupe reveals a tiny tick or two, but the dreaded right reverse field is delightfully clean for the assigned grade.
