FROM THE FORMULA 1 COLLECTION. EX PRICE What an important 07-S, bested by just a single MS67+ finer. Not only is this one of the FINEST graded, but its provenance is equally important: Ex Thaine Price, John Hugon, and Greensboro Collections. The eye appeal is visually very high end. A pearlescent satin frost offers a brilliant sheen on both sides. Its surfaces are dusted with a lovely iridescent golden-champagne tone. The design elements are sharply struck and the surfaces are wonderfully preserved with no singularly distracting ticks or marks. The eye appeal is exceptional. When the late David Akers cataloged this SUPERB GEM in 1998, noted that this was the finest example to appear in auction for many years, with the sole exception of the Eliasberg coin that had sold in 1997. Today, we know that just the Duckor coin, which was ex David Akers privately, is finer. PCGS 2, NGC 1. We think that the Duckor coin, which was MS67 in 2010 is counted here as well as as the sole finest MS67+. This remarkable coin, sold as part of the Hugon Collection in the 2005 FUN auction realized $27,600; it realized $17,625 in the October 2015 sale of the Greensboro Collection. At the time, the Newman, Gardner, and Greensboro Collections had sold in a very short period, with the Shireman Collection on the horizion (sold in the 2016 FUN auction). It has been a few years, those collections all well dispersed, and we think today the Collector's Universe value of $22,500 will be met. Anticipate strong bidding for this one! Cert.
