A lovely and richly toned GEM example of this popular Civil War issue. Quite scarce at this level and extremely rare any finer, this dime has a great, classy, original look. Thickly frosted surfaces and sharply struck devices stand out, wonderfully accented by the rich slate and russet gold hues. The eye appeal is excellent. PCGS 18, NGC 15. The most recent example to sell in auction brought $3,600 and the current PCGS Price Guide value is listed at $2,400. Just a handful have graded finer.
