- The SECOND FINEST J-1622 Goloid Pattern Dollar that exists, just behind the Bob Simpson PR68 CAM. Struck using George Morgan's rarely seen portrait of Liberty facing left. The reverse has the composition spelled out within a beaded circle inside a wreath of corn, wheat and cotton. Struck in the Goloid composition (89.58% silver, 0.42% gold, and 10% copper) with a reeded edge, the J-1622 is rated a low Rarity-7 (7-12 examples estimated). Both sides are superbly reflective in the fields and the devices are razor sharp in terms of strike, the hair strands are fully and crisply brought out by the bold impression from the dies. Totally untoned, the fields and devices are free from all but the most minute of microscopic hairlines. The eye appeal is superb. In his work on patterns, Andrew Pollock, enumerates 8 different provenance chains. This SUPERB GEM does not appear to plate match the Woodin-Newcomer-Boyd-Judd-Sieck coin. PCGS 1, NGC 0. Only one coin, the one ensconced in the Bob Simpson Collection is graded finer! This coin will find itself in a great collection of pattern coins when it crosses the auction block; remember, this is the finest that will be available in the foreseeable future. What an important opportunity for the advanced Pattern or silver dollar collector. Do not let it pass you by! Cert. Number 84104694 PCGS # 504679
