- While we make no guarantees, the first thing we want to say is that this coin has the eye appeal of a higher grade! This has to be one of the prettiest Judd-60 Restrikes we have had the pleasure of selling in auction! This one has a high end visual allure that cannot be beat. The mirrors are deep and beaming with a bold, clarity of reflection that is RARELY seen on Gobrecht dollars. They are ultra flashy and have a rich glassy texture in the fields. Aside from the the faintest stray lines, the surfaces are the epitome of smooth and free of any distracting marks. Very pleasing color is seen, a bold patch of teal and violet with traces of gold that is dusted throughout. The sharply struck devices stand out in stark contrast to the icy mirrored fields. The design elements show fuller definition than normally seen and the eye appeal is much better than what you normally see. Struck in Die Alignment III, the eagle flies even, with the pellet between AMERICA and DOLLAR at 3:00. These are now recognized as the Restrikes, struck from an advanced, cracked reverse die state. PCGS 21, NGC 20, CAC 3. The NGC Population includes all J-60s graded in PR63. This is the ONLY PR63+ graded. at either service. The last PCGS PR63 sold in April 2012 and was NOT CAC. We think the current PCGS Price Guide value of $38,500 does not reflect this coin's exceptional GEM eye appeal. We know bidding will be very strong for this exceptional quality Restrike 1836 Gobrecht. The eye appeal is better than the PR64 that sold in the 2016 ANA auction for $47,000. Cert.
