- 1796 Repub. Ameri. medal. Musante GW-61, Baker-68. Copper. Plain edge. MS-63 BN (PCGS). 33.2 mm. 299.4 grains. Pleasing chocolate brown but nicely accented by pale blue, gold and rose iridescence in the fields on both sides. Deeply prooflike and very attractive. A few minor hairlines and tiny spots, and one tiny nick in the reverse rim are noted. Still, among the nicer examples we recall having seen in terms of the overall appearance. Traces of the Baker number in red on the edge. The Musante plate piece. Provenance: Ex William Spohn Baker Collection, to the Historical Society of Pennsylvania by bequest, November 15, 1897.
