Despite a very healthy mintage of nearly 14.5 million, the 1922-S dollar is a true condition rarity in GEM grade or better. This satiny, pearly silver coin takes on an opalescent sheen when rotated in a light. A dusting of soft lilac-pewter, antique silver, pale gold and subtle iridescent pastel hues come together, giving this a great look. The surfaces are generally clean and do not have any singularly distracting marks. Liberty's hair tresses are fully formed and crisp in definition, but the eagle's feather details are just slightly flat, as typically seen. The eye appeal is great! PCGS 530, NGC 274, CAC 70. PCGS has graded 60 in MS65+ and just 26 finer. The most recent example sold for $8,400 in the 2022 FUN Auction and prior to that, one sold in January 2021 for $9,000. RARE any finer, especially with CAC approval. the last PCGS/CAC MS66 sold for nearly $35,000 in August 2021. Bound for a great set, bid accordingly. Cert. Number 44924336 PCGS # 7359
