Ex Vanderbilt Collection. AMONG THE FINEST GRADED! The 1901-O is EXTREMELY RARE in such a high grade! While over 13 million were struck and many were stored in mint bags that were distributed in the 1950s and 1960s, very few survive in MS67 grade. Well struck and frosty devices stand out on the satiny, lustrous surfaces. The design elements are crisply rendered and fully formed on both sides. The fields show a radiating luster, with semi-reflective flash. A single mark is seen on the frosty cheek, but otherwise the surfaces are defect free. The eye appeal is quite nice. PCGS 6, NGC 20. The most recent example to sell in auction brought $19,975 in March 2015 and prior to that a CAC-approved example sold in the 2011 FUN auction for $37,375. The current Collector's Universe value is listed at $25,000 and we would not be shocked if this one came close to that figure. Just 2 coins are graded finer at PCGS, a 67+ and a 68, so this coin is bound for one of the FINEST sets. Good luck! Cert. Number 36302648 PCGS # 7274
