BD-1, considered to be R-4+, the only Small Stars Reverse variety. Perhaps as many as 100 examples exist in all grades. A brilliant, satiny Mint State coin with boldly struck devices on both sides. Bright yellow gold surfaces show zero flaws visible to the naked eye. The eye appeal is quite nice. This is the final year of the Bust Right design, after which John Reich's Capped Bust left design was introduced and this coin would make a fine addition to any early gold type set. PCGS 11, NGC 23. An example of this variety sold in 2010, realizing $14,950. The most recent NGC MS61 sold in an August 2012 auction for $12,338--that was more than five years ago!
