FROM THE HUNTER COLLECTION. Ex Link. Peripheral, album toning frames both sides of this well struck 1822. An early die state, struck before the die chip in the R formed. A few old hairlines and untoned centers suggest that prior to placement in an album this coin was gently wiped, then retoned naturally in the album. PCGS 160, NGC 61.
