- 1794 Liberty Cap Cent. S-32. Rarity-2. Head of 1794. VF-20 (PCGS). A pleasing mid-grade example of this popular early large cent date. Excellent light chocolate-brown color and no roughness or other impairments, just minor contact marks that are not out of line for the grade. Nicely struck and overall quite well defined for the variety and grade level. There is just slight weakness at the right obverse border which is virtually always the case with the S-32 die variety as the obverse die was slightly misaligned axially. An appealing coin for the type and date that is also of interest to specialists as it represents the rare early die state of the variety with no cracks or clashmarks on the reverse, DS1 per Chuck Heck's new reference on 1794 large cent die states.
