详细说明: 1883-CC Liberty Eagle. AU-58 (NGC). The deep yellow-gold surfaces are somewhat prooflike and offer frosty motifs set against reflective fields. Traces of olive iridescence engage the fields on both sides, especially on the reverse. One of just 12,000 examples of the date struck. Fewer than 20 grading <em>events</em> for this date have been registered by NGC at AU-58 or finer, topped by a solitary MS-61 piece; we also suspect some resubmissions have occurred at the AU-58 level. The Winter reference calls this date: "The second most available Carson City eagle from the 1880s. But even though this is a fairly easy date to find in lower grades, choice higher grade pieces with good eye appeal are among the scarcest of the post-1880 eagles from this mint." The present piece is certainly choice overall with a bold strike and no marks of moment, even in the reflective fields. This example of an elusive date is worthy of strong bidding activity.
