THE GEORGE SCHWENK COLLECTION Among the highest graded 1918 quarters in the non-FH designation, this coin is tied with four others for second highest graded honors at PCGS, with a single MS67+ finer. Copious amounts of satiny mint brilliance radiates boldly on both sides, dripping with original mint color and swirling cartwheels. The shield rivets are boldly impressed, and there is just the slightest hint of weakness on Liberty's head, typical of this early date. The surfaces are wonderfully clean and free of distracting marks of any kind, the eye appeal is very pleasing. PCGS 5, NGC 3. The most recent example sold for $3,650 in October 2022 and the current PCGS Price Guide value is listed at $4,250. The sole finer example in the designation has not sold in auction, but PCGS estimates it would bring $17,500. This is a wonderful coin for any carefully selected Registry Set. Good luck. Cert.
