- 1838 Liberty Seated Half Dime. No Drapery. Small Stars. MS-64 (PCGS). An enticing example of this brief and beautifully executed type from the earliest years of the Liberty Seated half dime series. Drenched in richly original toning of steel-gray, cobalt blue and golden-apricot, both sides are further enhanced by a full endowment of frosty mint luster. Boldly struck overall despite an advanced obverse die state that is characterized by several interesting cracks, extensive rusting throughout Liberty's portrait, and lapping that has weakened the stars along the left border. Attractive for Mint State type purposes, and also a desirable coin for the specialized Liberty Seated half dime variety collector. PCGS# 4318. NGC ID: 232R.
