- 1794 Liberty Cap Cent. S-63. Rarity-2. Head of 1794. VF-30 BN (NGC). Deep charcoal-copper patina throughout, both sides are well centered in strike with plenty of bold detail remaining. The surfaces are a bit rough, particularly on the reverse, but there are no sizeable marks to report. The low and noticeably repunched 4 in the date on this variety aids in quick attribution from among the numerous varieties of 1794 cents. The Sheldon-63 is plentiful enough in lower grades, but conditionally scarce in grades at and above the VF level. Provenance: From the Louis J. Alfonso Collection.
