Finest Certified 1879 Judd-1589 Dime Pattern Morgan Design 1879 Pattern Morgan Dime. Judd-1589, Pollock-1782. Rarity-7-. Copper. Reeded Edge. Proof-67 RD Cameo (PCGS). Obv:George T. Morgan's famed Liberty head used on the silver dollar of that year, with the legend UNITED STATES OF AMERICA surrounding and the date 1879 below. Rev:A continuous wreath of laurel with berries encircles an inner beaded border, in which are the Latin motto E PLURIBUS UNUM, the denomination ONE DIME, and 13 small stars. An elusive and highly prized rarity from the Morgan pattern series. Brilliant red-orange surfaces glow with incredible reflectivity in the fields, sharply contrasting the richly frosted design elements. Scattered splashes of colorful toning are noted under scrutiny. Free of any significant handling and fully captivating to examine in hand. As noted on the uspatterns.comwebsite, there are perhaps just 12 to 15 pieces known for both silver and copper strikings from these dies. Most are copper impressions in high grades, attesting to select distribution followed by careful handling over the years. Yet even so, this breathtaking Superb Gem ranks as the single finest example certified by PCGS or NGC in any category, making it a true treasure for advanced pattern specialists.
