(t) CHINA. Sinkiang. Dollar, 1949. PCGS AU-55 Gold Shield. L&M-842; K-1275; KM-Y-46 (for type). "One yuan" filled in; pointed-base "1" with short serif; year 38. This nicely preserved example is considerably nicer than normally encountered; this readily available crude issue is usually encountered in well-worn condition with surface issues. The present example exhibits a bold even strike with plenty of remaining luster and mottled grey patina offering a bit of charm. Estimate: $1,500 - $2,000.
