- High Condition Census 1868 Three Cent Nickel
1868 Nickel Three-Cent Piece. MS-67 (PCGS). CAC.
A glorious example of both the type and the issue. Brilliant surfaces are ice-white in appearance and allow ready appreciation of intense satin luster. Both sides also deliver razor sharp striking detail throughout. Virtually pristine, this lovely Superb Gem will please even the most discerning numismatist.
As one of the earliest issues in the nickel three-cent series the 1868 boasts one of the larger mintages for the type: 3,252,000 circulation strikes. Survivors are plentiful in today's market, making this issue a perennial favorite among type collectors in both circulated and Mint State grades. At the present level of preservation, however, the conditionally challenging nature of both the type and issue comes readily to the fore. This is a high Condition Census example that is unsurpassed by any other example that we can ever recall offering.
