- From the Hallett Collection. Ex. Joshua II. A very difficult date to obtain in any sort of Mint State grade, especially so in GEM grades. Boasting a pedigree to the Joshua II Collection which was the #1 All Time PCGS Set when it was sold in August 2010. Clearly with a provenance like that, you know it is an enticing coin. To be sure the first thing that grabs your attention is the lovely, original toning that covers both sides. Shades of orange-gold, and lilac-blue dust the surfaces delicately. The underlying satiny luster really brings the surfaces to life! We note two tiny marks on the fasces, and we believe those are the only marks that keep this coin from obtaining a CAC bean. PCGS 22, NGC 13. The most recent example to sell in auction realized $12,925 in a June 2017 auction. This one sold in the 2014 FUN auction for $9,400 and the current PCGS value is listed at $17,500. There are only a half dozen pieces graded finer, and these very rarely appear in auction (the sole finest MS67 FB has NEVER sold). This remarkable GEM is worthy of another world class cabinet of Mercury dimes, and it will find itself at home in a top tier Registry Set. Cert. Number 21465072 PCGS # 4937
