Fully CHOICE quality and high end for the assigned grade. Robust mint frost provides an excellent back light effect around the crisply struck devices and brings out the subtle sky blue, gold, and olive accents that blend with the surrounding silver-dove patination. Clearly this totally original coin sat in some sort of paper envelope for a long time, slowly acquiring this totally original, and classic look. The reverse die was pretty badly cracked when this coin was struck with a number of cracks at the rim and one that passes right through the eagle's neck. Housed in an OGH encapsulation. PCGS 13, NGC 7, CAC 3. Only one PCGS-graded coin has sold since the turn of the decade, a non-CAC, brilliant silver (likely dipped) example that sold for $1,880 in the 2014 ANA auction. The current PCGS Price Guide value is $2,000 and this coin should exceed that level when the gavel falls. The PCGS Population Report shows 15 grading events finer. A great coin for any serious collector of Seated Liberty half dollars. Cert. Number 8313538 PCGS # 6257
