- 1849-C Liberty Head Half Eagle. Winter-1. Die State II. AU-53 (PCGS). Rich khaki-olive patina is seen on surfaces that retain ample boldness of detail and appreciable mint luster. As one of the more frequently encountered issues in the Charlotte Mint half eagle series the 1849-C is an ideal candidate for inclusion in a mintmarked type set. However, the 1849-C is rarer than the 1852-C and 1858-C in high grades such as AU and Mint State.
