- 1903 Liberty Quarter Eagle. Proof-65 Cameo (PCGS). 1911-D Indian Quarter Eagle. AU-58 (PCGS). Although relatively obtainable by the standards of classic U.S. Mint proof gold coinage, the 1903 quarter eagle is an important strike rarity with a cameo finish. Beginning in 1902 and continuing through the end of the Liberty series in 1907, the Mint utilized an all brilliant proofing technique that imparted vibrant mirrors to both the fields and devices of most coins. The specimen we offer here, however, did pick up enough of a satin texture to the devices to uphold the validity of the CAM designation from PCGS. Otherwise deeply reflective in finish, with vivid deep-orange color shining forth powerfully from all areas. Smoother and more visually appealing than the typically offered survivor grading Proof-64 or lower, and unique as a cameo proof 1903 quarter eagle as certified by PCGS.
