FROM THE BEAR CREEK COLLECTION Satiny mint frost defines this virtually untoned, pleasing 1849 dollar. The barest trace of gold can be seen particularly at the margins, but this coin is virtually untoned white silver. Some very minor striking weakness can be seen in places, and a few wispy lines and scattered contact attest for the assigned grade. RARE any finer. PCGS 20, NGC 14. This was the most recent NGC-graded example to sell, bringing $5,175 back in March 2010.
