- MEXICO. 8 Reales, 1859-Do CP. PCGS MS-64+ Gold Shield. KM-377.4; DP-Do39. The single finest certified of the date on the PCGS population report only surpassed by a single example on the NGC census (MS-65). A lovely survivor of the type exhibiting frosty devices, satiny surfaces and nice cartwheel luster. Attractive mottled golden to russet tone in the peripherals and amongst the devices with a few hints of cobalt in the protected areas. An eye catching example sure to be a welcome addition to the next collection it enters. The present example also happens to have been struck with the same pair of dies as the Aretame San Bu also in this sale (lot #21048) and was why it was chosen. Estimate: $500 - $700.
