1871 Three-Dollar Gold Piece. AU-55 (PCGS). 1847 Liberty Half Eagle. MS-63 (NGC). Struck in bright yellow-gold and showing minor friction on the high points of the design. Another rarity in all grades, with a tiny mintage of 1,300 pieces finding a wholesome and attractive coin is quite the numismatic challenge. Minor handling marks in the fields, with a short scratch or two from normal circulation. Perhaps a few hundred exist today, at most.
