- 1884 Pattern Cent. Judd-1721, Pollock-1929. Rarity-6. Proof-65 (PCGS). OGH--Second Generation. 1903 Louisiana Purchase Exposition Gold Dollar. Jefferson Portrait. MS-65 (PCGS). Nickel. Plain Edge. A simple proposed design for the cent, which of course would have expanded Joseph Wharton's sale of the raw nickel product mined from his sources to the mints. The obverse states UNITED STATES OF AMERICA above, 1884 below with a central perforation of a slightly irregular shaped circle and a high rim at the edge of the coin. On the reverse the words ONE CENT appear at the top, below are two laurel branches with an inverted shield at the base. The surfaces have a blush of light nickel-blue with yellow hues intermixed and a couple of minor specks. No handling issues are present, and this radiant gem will charm any specialist in this series.
