- Numerous double-eagles from the vast European hoards that returned to American soil during the 1960s and later have much the look seen here. That is to say, the appearance is exceptionally original, with greyish friction seen on the highpoints, and the medium golden hue lightly diffused by the patina. Abrasions seem slightly plentiful for "choice plus", but CAC doesn't seem to mind, their judgement perhaps swayed by the pleasant, wholesome overall appearance.
