- MARTINIQUE. Martinique - Mexico. 3 Escalins (Moco), ND (1797). George III. PCGS VF-30. KM-26; Prid-1. Weight: 5.80 gms. Authorized by local ordinance of 1 September 1797. Cut 1/4 1794-Mo FM Mexico bust 8 Reales of Charles IIII (IV) (KM-109) with crenated edges. This handsome and fully attributable survivor displays lovely old cabinet patina with a slight iridescent sheen. The surfaces exhibit signs of handling consistent for the grade with minor marks, but nothing overly distracting. Pleasing to the eye, this wholly original looking piece is sure to catch the attention of many collectors. It is interesting to note that few examples of this issue can fully identify the host. Most pieces encountered are either of a coin that is so worn that the identifying features are no longer visible or a 1/4 where there are no identifying characteristics. Estimate: $1,000 - $1,500.
