- 1883 Gold Dollar. MS-67+ (PCGS). CAC. Delightful satin to softly frosted surfaces are at the threshold of numismatic perfection. Both sides present an attractive green-golden appearance with just a slight amount of natural patina. A well struck, vivid Superb Gem that is sure to sell for a premium bid. An extraordinary Superb Gem gold dollar from a mintage of 10,800 pieces. The Bowers reference notes: "Very few, if any, 1883 gold dollars were placed into general circulation, a commentary that is relevant for all dates of gold dollars, 1879 to 1889. Thus, an exceptionally high proportion of circulation strikes survive today, mostly in Mint State and often Choice or Gem. Finding one that is 'just right' will be no problem."
