- 1773 Virginia Halfpenny. Newman 23-Q, W-1560. Rarity-3. Period After GEORGIVS, 7 Harp Strings. AU-58 BN (NGC). 106.5 grains. Deep golden-brown with olive highlights on the obverse and lively blue iridescence that comes to life under strong lighting. Traces of lacquer in the protected areas around the reverse devices are mentioned for accuracy, although they are only identifiable under magnification and do not alter the eye appeal to any degree.
