1823/2 Capped Bust Dime. JR-3. Rarity-2. Large Es. AU-50 (PCGS). A scarce date in high grades and highly collectible when found this nice. The color is a natural light gray with darker tinges highlighting the devices. Reasonably sharp too, with all but a couple of stars on the upper left showing full radial lines. All 1823 dimes are overdates, the Mint obviously prepared several obverse dies for 1822 coinage then didn't use but a single obverse that year, when 1823 rolled around the existing 1822 dies were overdated to read the current 1823 date.
