- 1871 Pattern Dollar. Judd-1147, Pollock-1289. Rarity-6+. Proof-64 BN (PCGS). CAC--Gold Label. OGH--First Generation. 1871 Pattern Dime. Judd-1085, Pollock-1221. Rarity-6+. Proof-64 BN (PCGS). Liberty is seated left on the obverse, her right hand supporting a liberty pole and her left hand resting atop a globe inscribed LIBERTY. Thirteen stars are arranged around the border and the date 1871 is below. Liberty is wearing a feathered headdress and there are two flags behind the portrait, one of which displays 22 stars. The reverse design is the same that the Mint used to strike regular issue Seated Liberty silver dollars of the Motto type. Struck in copper with a reeded edge.<br /> A wonderfully original specimen, both sides are drenched in deep, rich, olive-copper patina. More direct angles reveal vivid antique-gold and more subtle powder-blue undertones that accent a radiant mint finish. The coin is also sharply impressed from the rims to the centers with no contact marks, hairlines or other blemishes that would seem to preclude a full Gem rating. Sure to sell for a premium bid.
