- 详细说明
- The Philadelphia mint churned out nearly 176 million nickels in 1963, with evidently little care for striking quality. So many of these are poorly struck that examples with full steps on the reverse are very rare today. Indeed, after 32+ years of grading just 41 examples have graded in MS66 or finer at PCGS. The present GEM has a bold satiny mint luster and a delicate iridescent patina over the original nickel-silver surfaces. Every detail of Monticello, including all six steps are fully rendered by an exacting blow from the dies. There are no more than one or two very minor, trivial ticks that would keep this coin from an even higher grade. PCGS 4, NGC 0. None have ever sold in auction, but PCGS CoinFacts estimates a value of $2,000 in this lofty grade. There is just a single example graded finer, which too has never sold in auction. This impressive GEM will find itself right at home in the FINEST of Jefferson nickel Registry Sets. We do expect intense bidding interest for it from specialists when it crosses the block. Cert. Number 37129498 PCGS # 084073
