- 1818 Capped Bust Quarter. B-2. Rarity-1. MS-63 (PCGS). Deep olive, carmine, rose, and royal blue iridescence endorses much of the coin's surface, with blasts of mint brilliance around certain obverse stars and within the eagle's plumage. An attractive coin with pleasingly original surfaces. Browning-2 is the most readily obtainable die marriage of the 1818 quarter, although we caution bidders that the Capped Bust, Large Diameter type as a whole is conditionally challenging with Mint State examples scarce to rare in all grades. This variety combines an obverse with star 13 repunched and a reverse with the lowest arrow feather over the center of the digit 2 in the denomination and the tip of the stem over the right tip of the letter C in the denomination.
