- Tough issue from a mintage of 700 coins. The 1873-78 Trade dollar proofs are much scarcer than the 1880-83 (proof only) issues and are much harder to find. Sharply impressed surfaces reveal beautiful blue, purple, and rose-gold tints when tilted under direct lighting. Only 5 examples finer at this level of contrast!
