详细说明: 1797 Capped Bust Right Quarter Eagle. BD-1, the only known dies. Rarity-6. AU-53 (PCGS). The lustrous yellow-gold surfaces of this attractive specimen exhibit lively orange iridescence throughout. What gives the initial appearance of a large scratch is actually a vertical die crack that runs across the obverse from the Y of LIBERTY to the 13th star below. We note some tiny scratches in the field below TY, and another small scratch at the obverse rim at 5 o'clock. Other than these two blemishes, any other marks found under low magnification are nothing more than insignificant distractions. In other words, the present specimen is choice to the naked eye. In case you feel AU-53 is a so-so grade for this rarity, let us remind you that  just 427 examples were struck, and PCGS has certified only two Mint State examples, both of those at the lower end of the numerical range of the Uncirculated category. We don't often have the opportunity to present a pleasing 1797 quarter eagle in any grade (and neither do our competitors), and the presence of this Choice AU specimen makes for a distinctive highlight in the present catalog.
