- This is a nice example of Proof gold in an affordable grade. Thickly frosted devices stand out boldly in a stark cameo contrast to the surrounding mirrored reflective fields. Perhaps given as a gift in the late 19th century and handled by a non-numismatist, there are some minor lines and ticks, but the eye appeal is bold for the assigned grade. Only 165 Proofs were struck. PCGS 3, NGC 7. The most recent example sold in February 2021 for $3,600 and the current PCGS Price Guide value is listed at $3,700.
