1879-S Liberty Quarter Eagle. AU-55 (PCGS). Predominantly lustrous with modest semi-reflective tendencies evident at more direct angles, this coin reveals only light rub and the expected number of wispy abrasions at the Choice AU level. Even honey-orange color throughout, the devices sharply struck in all areas save for the eagle's left (facing) leg on the reverse. The final Quarter Eagle issue from the San Francisco Mint, the 1879-S has a mintage of just 43,500 pieces that represents a significant reduction from the total achieved in 1878.
