- Superior Miller 6.1-M Laughing Head 1787 Connecticut Copper. Miller-6.1, W-2820. Rarity-1. Mailed Bust Left, First Laughing Head. AU-55 (PCGS). A superb example of this popular Guide Booktype. Though not rare, there is a degree of collecting pressure on stylistically distinctive varieties that other die pairings generally do not attract. Laughing Heads can come nice, but they are not often as nice as this choice piece. Beautiful satin surfaces are hard, tight, and free of troublesome blemishes. Rich autumn-brown patina throughout, both sides also with intermingled steel-olive. The strike is ever so slightly off center, though dentils of varying depth are visible in some areas around both sides. It would be difficult to improve upon this specimen, especially without venturing into Mint State territory, where prices climb significantly.
