- 详细说明
- An extremely low mintage Civil War Proof gold piece, the 1862 gold dollar saw a mintage of just 35, of which only about half are thought to survive for collectors today. Of the 16 pieces specifically enumerated by John Dannreuther in his magnum opus on Proof Gold Coinage, two are impounded in institutional collections. The present coin is beautiful and on the cusp of a GEM DCAM grade. The contrast between the highly reflective mirrored fields and the thickly frosted devices is dramatic. There are some mint made striations on the reverse field, but these "flaws" do not impact the eye appeal much. Rich golden color with a few splashes of deeper orange really add to the allure of this spectacular Proof gold dollar. Only 35 Proofs were struck. PCGS 2, NGC 1, CAC 2. This coin sold back in the 2019 FUN Auction for $16,800. The current PCGS Price Guide value is listed at $19,500 and the CAC CPG value is $17,300. RARE finer, the Simpson coin, a PCGS PR65 DCAM CAC sold for $30,000 in August 2022. A real prize for the advanced collector, and we anticipate strong bidding for sure! Good luck. Cert.
