- FRANCE. Normandy. Denier, ND. Rouen Mint. Richard I (943-996). PCGS MS-62 Gold Shield. Duplessy-16; Roberts-not listed. Short cross with pellet in each angle, interesting spelling of the kings name "RICARDVSI" with an inverted "V" in place of "A"; Reverse: Temple facade with pellet in pediment and short cross with pellet in each angle of cross, "ROTOM(IYI)AGVS" with an inverted "V" in place of "A" and "M" as a composite letter of two "I" and a "V". We struck with clear full legends and nice details. Light attractive tone. A wonderful little example of Feudal era French numismatics. Estimate: $300 - $500.
