- 1854-O Three-Dollar Gold Piece. EF Details--Improperly Cleaned (NGC). Pale honey-gold patina with the overall design boldly defined despite isolated softness of detail to the word OF in the obverse legend and the O mintmark. Glossy in texture with light hairlining to explain the NGC qualifier. Alone among New Orleans Mint three-dollar gold issues, the 1854-O is scarce and desirable at all levels of preservation.
