详细说明: Gem Insurrection Issue in Gold AUSTRIAN NETHERLANDS. Lion d'Or (14 Florins), 1790. Brussels Mint. NGC MS-65. Fr-402; Delm-221; KM-51. From a mintage of only 3,805 pieces but with few surviving examples. Insurrection issue struck during the fleeting fourteen month Brabant Revolution (October 1789-December 1790). Antiquated writings refer to this as the Belgian Revolution of 1789-90, though Belgium would not achieve full independence until 1830. This revolt took inspiration from the Liege and French Revolutions. After defeating Austria at the Battle of Turnhout in January of 1790, the "United Belgian States" was established and produced this coin. The Austrian-Netherlands saw a brief period of independence at the time, before being annexed by Napoleonic France. Featuring a jaw-dropping design, a rampant lion roaring defiantly while holding a sword and shield. The coat of arms from the eleven rebellious provinces are arrayed around a sun burst. A very high quality coin, reflecting the wealth and technological advancement of the region at the time it was struck. The single finest certified example. An absolutely terrific piece, wonderfully executed with vibrant honey gold luster pouring from the design and surfaces, you could hardly ask for better.
