Tied for second FINEST PCGS graded 36-S Oregon half dollar. Only 5,006 were struck and of that mintage, just a single coin has graded finer. Gorgeous, pristine surfaces have a bold, satiny mint glow that accents the original, pearly silver that shows just the slightest touch of orange-gold at the rims. The devices are sharply struck up with full, complete definition on both sides. This notable type and subset in the commemorative series showcases the artistry of James and Laura Fraser. This classic is a quintessential American design commemorating the westward expansion of the mid 19th Century. PCGS 11, NGC 29, CAC 10. The most recent examples have sold in the $5,160 to $6,756 range. The current Collectors Universe value is listed at $7,250 and the CAC CPG value is $7,190.
