1888-O Morgan Silver Dollar. VAM-4. Top 100 Variety. Doubled Die Obverse, Hot Lips. AU-53 (PCGS). One of the most popular of the Top 100 Varieties for the unusual feature of the doubled die area being located on Liberty's lips, extending to some degree from her chin to the eye lid. This blunder slipped undetected, at least for a time and many were released into circulation. A single Mint State example has been certified by PCGS at the MS-61 level, but other known specimens show some degree to moderate wear from circulation.
